Hi, I've struggled with the same issue. Unfortunately, Apple TV does not support DLNA so it won't see your NAS. I'm still hoping Apple will ad this support some day. For now, you can only stream from either your iTunes library with the computer on or from iCloud stuff you have purchased. I don't have iTunes Match so not sure if that can be streamed to an Apple TV, but I believe it can.

Hello all.
I am in the process of buying a NAS drive where I want to store our
music library and play it on various I-devices and sonos.
However, reading various posts from this mailing list, it seems I
cannot omit having a computer turned on with the actual Itune app
running. Is that correct?
Is there away to avoid having my mac up and running and just have the
nas handle the music Collection streaming it to our iPhones apple tv
and sonos devices when needed?
Best regards, Jesper.
