According to the digital manual for my mophie juice pack air that I
downloaded the optimum time to turn on the juice pack is when the phone is
down to 20%. It uses up more power to keep it on charge all the time so
you should charge it up and then turn off the juice pack charger again.
I was glad to find the digital manual because the one that came with it is

Subject: Mophie Jiice Pack Operation
I purchased the Mophie for my iPhone 5S yesterday. The one I bought is
supposed to provide up to 120% additional battery life. At what point is it
optimal to turn on the Mophie for use? I assume I'll never see a number of
120%? Does this mean that up to 120 percent is available before the unit
requires charging? Thanks.
