App switcher can show up to three apps on the screen. Multiple apps can be dragged upwards at the same time to close with corresponding number of fingers with each finger dragging each app. In previous versions of iOS 7, there were bugs in this operation, but now the bugs seem to have gone away. FYI, in iOS 6 and earlier, you need to touch and hold one of the icon on the app switcher until all of the icons vibrate with small close buttons attached. It was just like when you want to delete an app from the home screen. Then you could close one at a time from the app switcher.
