The spell-check works perfectly on my iPod Touch 5th gen using the external
Amazon Basics Bluetooth keyboard.

I just executed the equivalent of the instruction set I previously passed on
for use with the onscreen keyboard.

After typing in an incorrect word, press backspace key on the external
keyboard and the "misspelled" prompt should sound.

Now simply press the left arrow key to review your list of options to
correct the misspelling.

When you have selected an option, simply execute the up + down arrow command
to enter the correction into the edit field. Press the spacebar to enter a
space character then continue typing.

I think the problem occurs when people are using external keyboards. The
corrections are not showing up on the screen and no amount of flicking does
any good. The choices just are not being read by voice over. I have
reported this to apple accessibility. They and I have exchanged a couple of
emails about it. They said they could not reproduce the problem. I said
try it with an external keyboard. Now they know and are working on it.

Alan

There, you'll find free files of my arrangements and performances played on

Subject: Using Auto-Correction?

Hi Sandy and all,

Please review my reference below for information on how to use the iOS
autocorrect feature, but for now...

Here's how to use spell-check while you type:

1. Open Notes--almost typed Notepad. <Smile>.

2. When creating a new Note, while in the Note edit field type the following
exactly as written then press the spacebar:
brid

3. . After having pressed the spacebar in the step above, you will hear
"misspelled."

4. Now press the Delete button and you should hear a multiple bubble-pop
sound.
A list of spelling corrections will appear.

4. Single finger swipe to the left to review the list of possible
corrections.

5. When you find the word "bird" simply double-tap on the word to replace
the misspelled word.

6. Now enter a space and begin typing your next word.

This procedure will of course become easier with practice. <Smile>.

For more details please review the following source of my summarized
tutorial:

Hi Sandy,

I too am unable to access autocorrects list of alternative spellings. I'm
using the default iOS keyboard on my iPod Touch 5th gen within the Notes
app. If it matters, I'm using the following words to test autocorrect: dgo,
cta, birthday, hav.

Hi David,

Sorry, still can't find them. I am using the Apple BT keyboard. Do you
have simple, step by step, instructions for me. I never used this before,
but am researching it for a friend who finds a bug when using this feature,
particularly, when writing emails.

I do have it turned on in settings, plus I have "speak auto correction"
turned on under "accessibility", but only hear "misspelt" and that is all.

    Thanks,
    Sandy.
