Yes, there is. Below the text field in which you enter your status, there is a button that says "choose friends". Double-tap that, and you'll have a list of friends. Double-tap the friend you want to add. Repeat as needed until you're done, and you can hit the done button.
Also, on the full site, you can type the at symbol (@) immediately followed by enough of the name that you can press enter and that person will be tagged. I haven't experimented with this on the mobile site.
