You should be able to if Comcast offers cable cards. I'm not sure if it is a
requirement that cable companies have to offer the cards, but it seems like
many have the option, even though it may be buried. I know with Time Warner,
the option seems to be right there when you hit order or upgrade equipment in
their account once you log in. I've heard one will need sighted help because
their may be numbers in the menu that they would need to activate the card to
your Tivo.

  Hi,

I'm currently using the TV remote app to control my DVR with Comcast and it
works well, but not the way I would like. Can the Tivo app be used if you have
Comcast as your cable provider?

I heard on the Tivo site that the Romeo Pro has the streaming built in. I was
thinking about getting one of these as opposed to the Time Warner DVR because
of being able to better control it with an app. Can you get into the settings
from the app, say to turn alternate audio on and off? The reason I couldn't
just have someone turn it on and leave it is because of channel 11. During
their programming that doesn't come from Fox, they play a continuous loop on
the SAP describing the feature and to return to main audio to hear the
programming. If you do have to do that from the remote, is it fairly easy to
toggle that setting? I heard that some of the remotes are programmable, so
maybe a macro could be made to make it a one-button toggle.

    Hey man,

Feel free to email me off list as I have had Tivo for over ten years. Of
course back then I could see, but now that I am a total I love Tivo and know
all the ins and outs. I do not have the Romeo as I have the previous box. Not
sure if you need the Stream with the Romeo as I thought it was built in, but to
answer your question. No you do not need the stream to start shows playing on
your TV by the app. It's fantastic as I use the app for everything. You will
need some sighted assistance the first time you set the box up, but after that
it is very rare that I need sighted assistance ever with my Tivo. Of course,
not being able to see you can't use all the features, but it is the best option
on the market that I have found as the app is mostly accessible. I have posted
here before with the app, I can view my entire tV guide by time or channel,
search for any shows and set a season pass or record by episode, you can see
upcoming episodes, edit your season pass list, start programs playing on your
TV by the iPhone, it's pretty fantastic and I use it every day. With the Stream
you can be on any Wifi network and connect to your Tivo to watch anything on
it.

Hello, I am considering buying a TiVo Roamio,. My understanding is that
this device does not allow you to watch recorded shows on an iPhone with out
paying $130 for a TeVo streaming box. With the TeVo app could I record a show,
then have it play to the tV that the TeVo is connected to instead of the iOS
device?
