Yeah, might be the same with TWC, but I probably need to establish whether or
not it is that Polaroid TV's only handle analog SAP and not on the digital side
because I heard that with regular cable at times, the TV will take a digital
signal if it isn't encrypted, and I can't tell which it is using on my local
channels. If I wasn't on the 8th floor and had a patio to put a DirecTV dish
on, I would probably go that route and be done with it because I know it works
to get SAP at my parents' place.

Just wanted to say thanks for your thoughts, guess I will have to threaten
Verizon Fios about filing a complaint with the FCC as that is what I was told
is the only thing that gets them off their butt.

Right now, I just have the analog preferred package through them because
it's free in the building I live in. I just had to pay for Internet. I thought
about doing this Tivo setup to hopefully get the SAP and to be able to easily
record shows. In my area, I know it works on a couple local channels on my
parents' DirecTV system, but here, the MTS button doesn't have much effect on
my TV. There could be a couple issues there in that the TV probably scanned in
the unencrypted digital channels that are available, and the Polaroid manuals
are vague on whether that feature does anything when on a digital channel. It
might be that TWC doesn't send it.

      Hey Brett,

It sounds like you might have the same set up to me cable cards from your
cable company that slide in to the Tivo box. For some reason I have never been
able to get the described video for anything. I have had a sighted person help
me to make sure to go to audio and change my preferred audio to secondary audio
programming when available and still nothing has ever recorded with described
video. Any clue if I am missing a step? I am in NYC so it is definitely being
aired in SAP, and I have looked at the ACB list of programs currently being
aired with DV but still nothing, and this happened on both Time Warner Cable
and Verizon FIOS did you have to do anything else to receive the feeds? I have
spent hours on the phone with Time Warner, then Verizon and Tivo and still
don't have an answer to why I am not getting it.

Any help or suggestions are greatly appreciated.

      Thanks,

I heard on the Tivo site that the Romeo Pro has the streaming built in.
I was thinking about getting one of these as opposed to the Time Warner DVR
because of being able to better control it with an app. Can you get into the
settings from the app, say to turn alternate audio on and off? The reason I
couldn't just have someone turn it on and leave it is because of channel 11.
During their programming that doesn't come from Fox, they play a continuous
loop on the SAP describing the feature and to return to main audio to hear the
programming. If you do have to do that from the remote, is it fairly easy to
toggle that setting? I heard that some of the remotes are programmable, so
maybe a macro could be made to make it a one-button toggle.

          Hey man,

Feel free to email me off list as I have had Tivo for over ten years.
Of course back then I could see, but now that I am a total I love Tivo and know
all the ins and outs. I do not have the Romeo as I have the previous box. Not
sure if you need the Stream with the Romeo as I thought it was built in, but to
answer your question. No you do not need the stream to start shows playing on
your TV by the app. It's fantastic as I use the app for everything. You will
need some sighted assistance the first time you set the box up, but after that
it is very rare that I need sighted assistance ever with my Tivo. Of course,
not being able to see you can't use all the features, but it is the best option
on the market that I have found as the app is mostly accessible. I have posted
here before with the app, I can view my entire tV guide by time or channel,
search for any shows and set a season pass or record by episode, you can see
upcoming episodes, edit your season pass list, start programs playing on your
TV by the iPhone, it's pretty fantastic and I use it every day. With the Stream
you can be on any Wifi network and connect to your Tivo to watch anything on
it.

Hello, I am considering buying a TiVo Roamio,. My understanding is
that this device does not allow you to watch recorded shows on an iPhone with
out paying $130 for a TeVo streaming box. With the TeVo app could I record a
show, then have it play to the tV that the TeVo is connected to instead of the
iOS device?
