Hi, Late joiner to the topic but here are some tips:
If you touch at the top of the app and flick right you might get past dates. What works best for me is to touch somewhere in the middle of the screen and I see current date or there about. To switch from day ticker to other view I do 3 finger flick down. If still not finding current double-tapping on go to today button works well also. Hope this helps a bit.
