First click on the search tab and type Google Maps in the edit field at the top of the screen. Now double tap on the search button on the right hand side of the virtual keyboard or select Google Maps for the iPhone from the list of suggestions at the top of the page. In the next screen that comes up, you should have a list of results; the first one on my list is Google Maps, and right below it I see a button labeled "Free Google Maps". If it's labeled open then you already have Google Maps installed. If it's labeled download then you've installed it and then removed it. If you double tap this button, it'll switch to say install, and if you double tap that, then you'll be prompted for your Apple ID password and Google Maps will be installed. You'll find it on your last home page.

I have been clicking on the search tab, this may be where I am going wrong when
I am trying to install Google Maps?
I type in Google Maps and one of the options is Google Maps for IPhone.
When I double click this, I don't seem to be able to get any further.
When I swipe around, there doesn't appear to be a free or any other button on
the search results screen.

I suppose it's subjective, but I would think most people would agree that using
the App Store on your iPhone would be the easiest way to go.
Bring up the App Store app on your iPhone, double tap the share tab at the
bottom of the screen, double tap in the search field and type your search
string, which would probably be iPlayer in this case. You can then select from
the list of suggestions below the edit field or double tap the search button at
the right of the keyboard to kick off a complete search.

When the information on the iPlayer app comes up, double tap on the free button
and then on the install button. You'll be prompted for your Apple ID password.
After it's installed, you can double tap the open button or look for it in your
last home page.

I hope this helps. I also hope it's accurate. I'm in a hurry, so I'm doing this
from memory.

Thanks, that sounds really good.

Excuse me but what is the easiest way to go to app store, this is my
first attempt at this, go to app store on the phone or connect the
phone to my PC and use ITunes?
