you can do it. I'm not sure why I didn't think of something so obvious.

Yes, you can easily select multiple messages for the purpose of moving or
deleting them. Tap the Edit button at the top right of the Inbox or
whichever mailbox you are in, it turns into a Cancel button. Now double tap
each message and Voiceover will indicate that they are "Selected". Do that
to as many messages you want and when you are done you can select "Mark",
"Move" or "Trash/Delete" at the bottom of the screen and whichever action
you select will be performed on the selected messages.

Could you give more information? I'm not sure what you mean by selecting
an email message. I don't think there's a way in the Apple email client
to select multiple messages. I'm also guessing that you mean the roter.
When in a mail folder, you can use the actions item in the roter to
choose between opening the message, sending it to the trash or getting
into more options.
