Turning the phone completely off then back on again clears that up for me.

Subject: Re: Number of notifications still being announced in locked screen

Hi Cheryl

"I chose in settings not to have notifications spoken in lock screen." You
didn't say that you turned off speak notifications in accessibility. So being
both notification center and accessibility are both found under settings, this
is one reason that I was confused. Secondly, if you havent taken all of the
apps that you do not want notification alerts out of showing up in notification
center, even though you have turned off speak notifications off in
accessibility, notifications will still be spoken. So remove all necessary apps
from the notification center by tapping on the app while in notification center
and select to turn off sounds and the alert being shown on the lock screen.

One would think that by turning off "speak notifications in lock screen," in
accessibility, this would override any thing in notification center. Guess
this is a bug of sorts.

I am not quite sure what I said that confused you. I said nothing about going
into notification center and that isn't what I did. I went into General >
accessibility > Voiceover > show notifications in locked screen and turned it
off. Shawn has it almost right; it doesn't announce the number of notifications
when I am about to unlock the screen; it just periodically announces how many
notifications I have and then after a few seconds says "screen locked". I don't
know if it is doing this at intervals or whenever a new notification comes in
or what is the trigger but it is very annoying and it is happening across all
devices that I have set not to show notifications in locked screen. I hope this
makes it clear.

I tried and tried to turn over a new leaf.

I got crumpled wads of tear-stained paper thrown in the trash!

Then God gave me a new heart and life:

His joy for my despairing tears!

And now, every day:

"This I call to mind, and therefore I have hope:

The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases;

his mercies never come to an end;

they are new every morning;

great is your faithfulness."

I read the message to mean that she went into the notification center and the

notifications not be shown on the lock screen.

If I'm incorrect, hopefully she will post so.

Hi Donna. Not to sound rude, but if you read her message properly, that's what
she did and Voiceover still insists reading the number of notifications when on
the lock screen when she is about to unlock it. Is this right Cheryl?

Hi

Try going to Settings, General, Accessibility, Voiceover and turn off speak
notifications.

In order to be able to have my Braille Edge paired with several devices while
keeping my Edge but losing contact with one device whenever another unlocked to
announce notifications, I chose in settings not to have notifications spoken in
locked screen. But while the noffifications themselves are not now announced in
my locked screen, my i-devices frequently come into the unlock screen in order
to announce how many notifications I have. If this was not so annoying, it
would be extremely funny! But if you don't want your notifications being
announced, in many cases this also means you don't want the fact that you have
notifications announced either! Without turning off all notifications, is there
a way to stop this? Is there a setting that actually will not speak anything
about notifications in the locked screen? I do realize that "do not disturb"
would be an option, but then I'd have to have "do not disturb" turned on pretty
much all the time.

Thanks for any suggestions.
