Golly, before I had my heart attack in 1998, I use to love knitting.  I
found it relaxing and rewarding but after the heart attack my fingers can't
take that kind of close work.  It was funny that the way I got started was I
didn't want to pay 80 dollars for a bedspread and thought I could make on
cheaper.  It cost me about the same dollar wise but I managed it.  I use to
have to have my sister read on to a cassette each knitting pattern.  Now
there's an app for that too huh!  Amazing!

Hi,

The Lion Brand app has patterns that read fine with a braille display. Since
they're long blocks, going through them with VoiceOver alone would be a pin
though. If you wanted to use it without a braille display, I would suggest
using Voice Memos or any voice recorder to record VoiceOver reading the
pattern; then you could stop and start the recording as needed to move
through the pattern.

Also, in the Knit app that I use, there is a button called edit. It shows
as dimmed, but you can still click it. You can put a memo in the text box.
I use that to put reminders of what I am supposed to do for the pattern.

some of it is labeled really well. For instance, you can pick the right
kind of picture to put for each project because they are clearly and
correctly labeled. I know this because I had my sighted child check. She
is a knitting/crocheting fan like I am, and this is her favorite.

Some of it, like the button you hit to add rows when you complete it,
are not so well labeled. You will probably want to re-label the "iPad
plus off" button to something easier to remember. LOL!

There's also Counter+ but I haven't figured out how that works so well.

I guess I will have to hold off, then. I just found the neatest
knitting app, but it only works under IOS7 and I don't know if they
will re-release it. I hate having to choose between updating and losing
apps. On the other hand, I promised someone I would update to see if a
