If the iPod Touch is updated then my guess is that we shall know next Thursdday. Who knows, maybe the "It's been way too long" on the official invitation refers to an iPod Touch update; OK, so I don't actually seriously think that since the iPod Touch has become a very tiny part of the iDevice business. In fact, I really hope it refers to a new Apple TV whicvh apparently is being positioned to be a sort of hub for the connected home of the near future.
There are 3 possibilities here: first is that nothing happens and the Fifth Gen iPod Touch remains as is, second is that there will be a sixth gen iPod Touch next week which I would assume then gets an A7 processor which would support Alex and with some luck the camera might get upgraded to 8 MP. The third possibility is that Apple will announce that the iPod Touch is being discontinued and I don't think this is out of the question. If there is no update and it remains available, then my guess is that it will disappear next year.
