You can try that and see if it's faster. I've been using contracted Braille for so long that typing uncontracted Braille is more distracting for me than dealing with the delay. But it might work better for you; you never know. I find that turning automatic translation off lets me keep my writing rhythm going when I only have to press the translate command at the end of a paragraph or before a hard carriage return.
