Yep, my vol is up and that's always being checked if ever I don't get what I expect to get.

I use my phone a lot but don't havfe too many phonecalls. I'm very happy when using a Bluetooth earpiece or headset and feel very much in control then, but don't get on so well when I just have the phone in front of me.

However, it's either beat the problem successfully or look for a better way to have phonecalls, which of course may force me into earpiece or headphones as often as possible. I like every other aspect of my phone far too much to make this a big issue; so forgive me if it looks as though I have done so. It was just that I was looking to see if there were any other solutions I hadn't considered. I think I know them all so, thanks everyone, for bearing with me on this one.

If you have already done the following, and you very well may have being
that you have been on this list for a while and probably already know about
it, then I don't know what to suggest. But do you have volume in the rotor?
If not, put it in there, then call somebody, or something, with the rotor
turned to volume. Flick up with one finger to make sure it is in the high
range. The volume for the headphones speaker and phone calls is different,
The only time I have had problems hearing VoiceOver on phone calls is when I
turned audio ducking off. I hope they fix this, I liked having it turned
off, but I leave it on now so I can hear VoiceOver while on a phone call.

Well, it's the only time for me when I wish I'd got a phone with tactile
buttons. I can't hear the announcement of buttons as things are and think
it's just a shame, because I love my apps and other things but not the
phonecall side of the IPhone.

Anyway, I've probably said enough on the subject now so I'll just either go
on as I am or abandon the phone as a phone. I haven't found practice really
improves things for me.

First of all, there seems to be some confusion here about audio ducking.
Audio ducking is not in and of itself a new feature. I looked this up
because I thought I might be confusing things but I think I am after all
correct. Audio ducking has been in place for quite a while if not always and
it is the feature that lowers other volumes when voiceover is speaking. So
since voiceover speaks your buttons, having audio ducking on shouldn't be
impeding your hanging up the phone but should be helping it; you do want it
on for this if I have the right grasp on this. It is if you have audio
ducking off that you should have a problem that you can blame on your audio
ducking setting. What has changed is that now you can control audio ducking
with the rotor; it was always on before and you couldn't control it as you
can on the Mac; on the Mac you can turn it off completely and I don't think
you can do it on the iPhone. So there is a bit of a dilemma here: from the
point of a phone conversation you may think you want audio ducking off but
from the point of view of hanging up and answering you probably want it on.
If you aren't in a hurry to hang up, of course you could have it in the
rotor and turn the feature on or off as you need it but it appears you are
wanting to hurry and hang up so this might not help you. But having audio
ducking on should help you, not hinder you if I am thinking about this
correctly. I always like to leave some excuse for myself in case I really am
confused - lol!

I don't think the buttons are moved though where they are may feel different
depending on the size of your phone. At least from my experience, using the
power button is no longer a way to hang the phone up if you are using iOS8
unless an update changed this back; I havn't tried this since the beginning
of iOS8 because it appeared to me not to be a way to do this any longer. I
would say either take the phone from your ear and take a little time in your
double-tapping or also take a little time and flick left at the bottom if
possible to find the end call button or do some extra practicing to find out
where it feels like the button is to you. Maybe get somebody to call you or
call yourself from another phone and practice a particular method until you
feel comfortable; occasional misfires probably are still going to happen.
Otherwise you may need to use earbuds or headphones where you can press or
squeeze a button or speak the words to hang up. Actually, I know some
earphones allow you to answer a call verbally but i'm not sure any allow you
to hang up verbally. Can you imagine inadvertently speaking the wrong word
during your phone conversation and disconnecting your call - lol! Anyway,
while it may not completely solve your problem, I think some deliberate
practice may go a long way to easing your frustration. Trying to "practice"
this during the pressure of a situation where you want to just hang up right
away probably will increas rather than decrease your discontent with how
this works. If you already have been practicing and are still having
troulble, I'm not sure what to suggest. Personally, I feel more pressure to
hurry when answering than I do when hanging up.

I use that all the time. You take the phone away from your ear, give it a
second so the screen can come back on (it is off so your cheek doesn't press
buttons), then double tap two fingers anywhere on the screen. If you do it
too quickly after lowering the phone, the screen won't yet be on and you
might think the gesture isn't working. Remember that, when you lower the
phone, it will switch to speakerphone mode automatically. I normally put my
right thumb over the speaker as I do this to muffle any sounds from the
other caller, especially if I'm hanging up on a voicemail prompt or
similarly loud noise.

So do you have a problem with the 2 finger double tap to end calls because
that can be done anywhere on the screen!

Hi all,

I think it's time I said clearly thatI'm really still not happy about the
iPhone's method(s)of ending phone calls. I suppose this may have got
worse for me as Audio Ducking is on, so now I really can't hear the
button I'm trying to locate at the end of a call and even pressing the
on/off switch doesn't always work.

At one stage the buttons, I think, were better placed at the bottom of
the phone, maybe nearer the corners. If I am wrong here then, never
mind; but I really wish there was an easier way to end calls efficiently
when not connected to a headset.

Does anyone else feel this way and, if so, do you think there's any
workable solution that we could put forward to the Accessibility Team?
Maybe this isn't a big deal for anyone, but I still think it spoils the
ship for me and I quite often see postings from people who are having
this difficulty.

Thanks for any useful commentsI could consider before writing to Apple.
