Virtuoso server creates a lock file in its working directory when it starts and erases it at shutdown. It is possible that the shutdown took place before you've made the search. It is also possible that you've started the server in some other directory using other port numbers so you have more than one instance running. Best Regards, Ivan Mikhailov, OpenLink Software.
