I did get it to build after much frustration with this configuration (on a g4 powerbook) . I actually had to manually edit a couple of the shell scripts that load the vad files because of some osx wonkiness. Unfortunately this is all on my home computer, but I'll take a look when I get home and see what I did. I didn't have that issue with flex. Make sure that you update all of your ports as specified in the instructions (and use port to do so...).
That is strange, as on my system i do not have to fix any shell scripts in order to do the build.
I am interested to hear what version of the source tree you are working with.
Also could you email a diff to mailto:vos.ad...@openlinksw.com so i can see what you needed to do and fix either scripts or build instructions to make this a more smooth build.
