Thanks to Hugh, I now run a 5.0.10 prerelease, which fixes a related bug, but it didn't fix my problem. Since the progress of my project depends critically on resolving this problem, I'd like to help in any way I can to isolate and fix this problem, but I have no experience with Virtuoso internals, so it would be nice if someone could help me getting started.
