Hi there, Thanks for your reply. To answer your questions:
1. I do not have a firewall running. 2. When I tried to run the command within Telnet open oneofxeon 5951, I got the error message: UNABLE TO CONNECT TO REMOTE HOST: CONNECTION REFUSED 3. I ran the nmap utility and port 177 came back as 177/UDP OPEN XDMCP When I ran the same command on port 5951 the results were THE ONE SCANNED PORT IS: CLOSED The above shows that XDMCP is running, but the ports that I had configured are not open, what can I do to correct this? -----Original Message----- From: William Hooper [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]] Sent: Wednesday, December 11, 2002 10:30 AM To: Subject: RE: Starting XDMCP on a Linux Server > -----Original Message----- > From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] > [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]] On Behalf Of Kaplan, Andrew H. > I rebooted the server and tried to connect to the server from > the VNCViewer > several times but continued to get the message FAILED TO > CONNECT TO SERVER. > > I tried the following combinations: > > > oneofxeon:2 > > oneofxeon > > oneofxeon:5952 > > oneofxeon.fully qualified domain name:2 > > oneofxeon.fully qualified domain name:5952 > > What now? > Do you have a firewall running? Do you have something to see what ports are open to the network (nmap or similar on another machine). Also oneofxeon:2 is not the same as oneofxeon:5952. -- William Hooper _______________________________________________ VNC-List mailing list [EMAIL PROTECTED] http://www.realvnc.com/mailman/listinfo/vnc-list _______________________________________________ VNC-List mailing list [EMAIL PROTECTED] http://www.realvnc.com/mailman/listinfo/vnc-list
