Did you check the VNC log (in ~/.vnc/) after you did this to see if your app
is reporting any errors there?

Are you getting a window manager (VNC defaults to twm)?  I see some mentions
in the archive of twm not being in the path on Solaris machines.  Maybe your
app can't run without a WM.  Again, check the log.
