Hi list,

I'm new here, and this post did not make it to the list somehow...

I've been reading many posts on this issue, but still am clueless. My dad
has a computer at home and needs help every now and then. He had Win98 and
we used RealVNC perfectly, now he got a new box with XP on it, and since
then it's no way I can use the server in the XP and a viewer in my win98.
The other way around works nice... I've read that you should turn off fast
user switching on XP, and went to micros**t to see how, but don't trust my
father being able to do that change himself (there is an ocean and many
1000 kms between us, so going there is not an option). My questions if
someone could help, are:

- Is this feature of Fast User Switching standard enabled in XP?
- Is there any kind of firewall included in XP? My father has no firewall
whatsoever installed.
- I pinged the IP he sent me and it returned as dead. Can it be a firewall
problem of the provider? If so, later on we tried with NetMeeting and I
could get through, the problem is that this was already too high tech for
my dad...Any other clues?

I appreciate any help here, thanks a lot in advance...,
Jorge
