I have been unsuccessful using VNC remotely from my laptop computer to access my home machine which is behind a Linksys BEFSR41 Etherfast/Cable DSL Router.
I have followed all of the instructions on the realvnc website for doing so and have worked directly with Linksys technical support without any success. When the laptop is attached to the home network, I have no problem accessing the home machine using one of the locally assigned IP addresses. However, once I try to use the external IP address assigned by my cable Internet access provider, the connection to the server fails. If anyone has any information which will help me solve this issue, I would be greatly appreciative. Make it a great day!
