Regarding scaling, I was wondering: is the scaling done on the server side, or the client side? That is, is scaling down the view a meaningful solution to bandwidth problems? Or is the scaling done on the viewer side, making it use the same data rate as without scaling?
Naturally this is all for the version 3 viewer.
I assume it's done on the client side. We use VNC4 server on our production machines, but frequenty access it with krdc (the KDE vnc client) which does scaling just fine. I guess its not a big help but for windows client users, but if your using Linux as a viewer, just use krdc as your client.
