Two things, first, this sounds a bit like a problem I reported months ago that I never really got any input on. Eventually it seemed to go away.
Alternatively, it may be the "stuck modifier" problem. I've seen issues, apparently caused by having the CTRL, SHIFT or ALT keys depressed, on either the VNC client or VNC server, when the connection is made. I usually just hit each of those keys once, after the connection, if I'm having trouble, and it goes away. -- Kelly F.
