Perry:
Can you double-check the firewall rules for the XP machine? Are you running
any sort of antivirus? There is a lot of anecdotal evidence that some
antivirus products will block VNC.

First, is it typical that one doesn't see their own posts in the
mailing list?

Anyway, I re-installed the RealVNC viewer today and the same thing is
happening. Perhaps I'm missing some security setting on the linux
side but I've searched around on the internet and poked through my
firewall settings on the linux side. I am allowing VNC access
(according to YAST which is the SUSE config tool) - is there some
other way to tell what is going wrong.

like i said yesterday i was able to telnet and get the RFB prompt -
and I am able to use the http interface but I can't use the "normal"
interface.

thanks

perry
