Daryl:

Heya. First thing to do is to check to see if you can
connect a Viewer PC to your Server PC *on the same LAN*. If you
mouse-over the VNC Server icon in the service tray, it will tell
you the IP address it's listening to. Plug that number into the
Viewer on another LAN PC and see if it connects.

Presuing it does, the next step is to check if you got your
port-forwarding setup correctly. As Wez suggested, there are some
online scripts you can run which will test this for you:

http://www.realvnc.com/cgi-bin/nettest.cgi
http://www.gotomyvnc.com

If those cannot connect, your port-forwarding still needs
work. You can get step-by-step instructions on that here:

http://www.portforward.com

If the scripts can connect...you will still NOT be able to
connect a Viewer PC to the Server PC using that DynDNS address if
both PC's are behind the same router. Most routers just aren't that
smart with "hairpin turns" involving port-forwarding. Instead, try
connecting to your VNC Server (using the DynDNS address) from an
off-LAN PC. If the scripts can connect, the Viewer should also.

        Hope that helps!

I should have a straight forward installation. Here is what I have done:
--I have installed the full, free VNC on both server and viewer computers.
Running Win XP Home on both. They have all the latest patches and updates.
Firewall on both is Norton Internet Security 2006 which autoconfigured after
I ran VNC the first time.
--lacking a static IP, I have setup DynDNS to point to my router (LinkSys
model that supports DynDNS)
--I setup port forwarding on port 5900 to my destination computer, SNAUSAGE
--I am able to ping my router just fine. I do not know how to determine if
port forwarding is working correctly. This would be good to learn, if
someone would help here.
--I have attempted to establish a VNC connection between viewer/server, but
am getting connection errors. It SEEMS like my server computer, snausage,
cannot be seen. But, this is just a guess.

Can someone help me troubleshoot?
