Chris What OS are you running on your Laptop? If it is Vista, it may be the Firewall.
If it is Vista, try disabling the firewall & see if you can connect. If yes, then turn the Firewall back on, make sure that Windows Remote Administration and Remote Administration are selected as allowed exceptions and try again.
