You could try running the DOS software in a DOS box on a platform that
supports VNC servers. Like you I have lots of legacy DOS applications,
that are not worth re-writing for the new platform.
I use Linux with dosemu. Then any user can run a separate desktop with
as many dos boxes as they like. Each box is a separate virtual machine,
so they only know of each others existence when they get share problems.
The only problem I have with dosemu is that occasionally the window
freezes and you can't run Blinker within Borland make.
I haven't tried the VNC server for Windows, but this would not be so
flexible since you only get one desktop to play with.
Get an old PC and run Linux on it. You don't need a fast chip, but you
do need some RAM (>~64Mb). Disk space is left to your own concience. 14"
Monitor and keyboard just for occasional administration. Else switch it
on and ignore it for a few years.
