thnx, it works that far. now can i make linux start the xvnc for the root-user every time it starts? The problem is, that i can't logon to the linux station via telnet using my root-password. That means, every time i want to start a xvnc-server, i would have to go physically to the puter, login... can someone make life easier? predator12345 -----Urspr|ngliche Nachricht----- Von: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]]Im Auftrag von [EMAIL PROTECTED] Gesendet: 02 February 2001 10:30 An: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Cc: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Betreff: Antwort: AW: problems with vnc for linux [DIG_ EXT:Virus checked] [DIG: Viren |berpr|ft] [Diehl-Mun: Virus checked] Hi Predator, with your distribution you got a file Vncviewer (don't take the wrong one starting with lowercase "v"). Use this one as your $HOME/.Xresources (only one "s" and don't forget the dot before the "X"). Otherwise change file access control attributes: chmod a+x /usr/local/bin/*vnc* # (vncpasswd, vncviewer, vncconnect, Xvnc, vncserver) Check then if you have perl installed (e.g. "which perl"), then if you have write access to the "/tmp/.X11-unix" directory. A file "X<session>..." will be placed there. After invoking vncserver twice (the very first time you will be asked to define a password to be used later with the vncviewer) check the file "$HOME/.vnc/<host>:<session>.log" (The exact name will be reported to you). If no error is reported check if Xvnc is running (e.g. "ps -ef | grep -i vnc"). Check last if you can connect to the local host invoking vncviewer <host>:<session>.log All this can be read in the installation guide.
