The problem is because a mac "talks" to its monitor. The default value of a
non-connected monitor is - like you mention - a postage stamp sized screen.
A solution exists in the fact that you can buy converters to connect a pc
screen on a mac. While using such a converter, the mac thinks he has a
screen attached, but in fact, there is no screen.

Onderwerp: Macintosh: Tiny window on headless G3
Dear all,
I hope someone can help me with the following problem, which I could not
find described on the site.
I am trying out VNC on the Macs in my home, because I want to run one of
them, a beige G3 running 9.0.4 (Dutch version) as a server without a
monitor.
After some experimenting, I concluded the most stable combination was the
Chromix server and the AT&T viewer (browser access doesn't work; I gather
from the list that I need some html files for that, but I haven't a clue
where to get them).
This works fine when viewing the screen of a G4 on a Powerbook G3. It also
worked fine viewing the screen of the G3, back when it had its monitor. But
now that the monitor is gone (I need it for the G4), all I get is a postage
stamp size window with an arrow cursor in it and some other tiny things.
Switching to full screen mode only centers this window. Switching off
hextile, and all other codings for that matter, didn't make any difference.
Thanks in advance for any pointers
