Errrm - I'm new to the list and VNC, but I have noticed a pretty severe
performance drop when using 10mbit network adapters as opposed to
100mbit, regardless of platform, CPU and RAM (I'm using 550mhz Win98 and
Win2K clients to view Win2K Adv Servers on 10 and 100mbit LANS). The
easiest quick fix I've found (if you don't have to down time or resource
to replace the card there and then) is to drop the display to 8-bit
pixels in connection options on the viewer.

Yes, several times, and tried many different options, and a different
graphics card...
I just tried WinVNC on a 500 MHz Windows 98 machine, and it works fine
with the default settings (and much faster)!
So why does it fail on my 200 MHz Windows 95 machine? Is it because the
machine is too slow, or WinVNC doesn't work so well with Windows 95? Is
there anything I can do to diagnose the problem?
