Blackdown JDK 1.2 Question

Hi,
After months of distractions, I am finally able to try again
to get VNet running. Last time, as I recall, I was using
Blackdown's JDK 1.1 (my ISP runs Linux), but came
across some problems.
My query is whether I should persist with 1.1 and try to
work out the problems, or install JDK 1.2 preV1 and try
that.
Does anyone have any experience or comments that may
help me in advance?
