I am actively working on making FreeWRL work with Linux. It is
ok, but am having trouble with adding children and getting the
code to work! (EAI was not very well implemented - so much work
has gone into getting EAI and the associated code in the browser
working)

should point you to there; the latest and greatest is probably
not there yet. (Just back from travelling to europe and have to
get my mind in order again.)
