Wow! JXTA looks incredibly interesting. I hadn't heard of it before.
Could this be used to give VNet peer-to-peer capability without central
servers? If so it may avoid that whole security problem Java has in talking
to more than one net address, while still being secure.
The Parlor idea is very cool. Could tables be VNet worlds and parlors be
collections of worlds? That way when you enter someone's world you are on
their table so to speak.
Or would a parlor correspond to a VNet world? And tables be portable,
centered on each avatar, and simply corresponding to closeness to an avatar
inside that world (like chat currently is in VNet)? If an avatar is
sufficiently close to another then they could be sharing a table and able
to exchange things. There is a slight complication in working out whos
table they are at -- not much of a problem when there are just 2 people (it
could be determined by who speaks or exchanges first during the overlap),
but when there are 3 it could be more complex...
Hmmm...

Q. What is the similarity between an elephant and a grape?
A. They are both purple... except for the elephant.
