Hi all,
I have a couple more quesitons about VNet.
In our performance we will not be using the chat
applet to communicate with each other, rather
I have modified Kiwano's excellent avatar that
comes with the VNet package to make performance
avatars with buttons in the applet linked to various
preprogrammed animations on the avatar.
My first question is whether the absence of chat traffic
will result in a lighter load on the server and therefore
more capacity for audience numbers?
Secondly, the above method of buttons in the chat
applet linked to animations in the avatar vrml file appears
to be the only way to have avatar behaviours displayed
in all clients' worlds (ie, a plainvanilla PostionInterpolator
ROUTEd to, say, a TouchSensor will only be displayed
on a client's local machine but not to all other clients in
the VNet mu world). Is this correct?
Thanks in advance
adam
p.s. If anyone wants to examine the avatars, go to
http://tmwktm.com/vnet/index.hmtl
and choose one of the named avatars to see
the performers' avatars. The 'audient'
avatar is a plain green sphere. For the live performance,
only the 'audient' and 'custom' will be available.
The world will be going up and down over the next week as we keep
working on it, but you're welcome to drop in anytime.
If you logon and nobody's there, drop me a mail
to see if I'm about.
cheers.
