A couple of months ago I worked on exactly this idea, but found no feasible way to do it. Now I simply have users send mail to the gateway which forwards everything to the VOPMail server, and it handles the delivery logic from there.

The only problem with this is if you need authentication at the gateway for external relaying. I've heard modusGate will authenticate against a VOPMail server, which is a big improvement over Vopmail Relay Edition which would not. I came up with a lower-tech solution; if anyone's interested they can email me.

Subject: [VOPmail Beta] Add route for local mail

what's your concept?  you'd add a local route to your vopmail that'd redirect everything to an outside mailserver that would do what?  filter things and then send it back?  doesn't that just create an infinite loop or am I missing something?

Subject: [VOPmail Beta] Add route for local mail

Can I add a route in VOPMail that directs local email (IE email that is sent from a user in the default domain to a use in the default domain) to an outside mail server?
I'm looking for an official response from Vircom on this.

Thanks!
