Hi Sylvain, could you help me with Vircom ticket # 14040. I am not sure the tech understands what I am conveying to him.

Thanks,

Hello all,

The problem with text and odbc backup feature was about its processing time...
Text backup and odbc backup time have been optimised in update 22.
As a matter of fact, update 22 is available on our web site in the "My Vircom" section.

Andrew O'Halloran and myself tested the latter with Andrew Cox from USAWide.Net yesterday on its network and everything went fine.

VPRRS228.22.EXE
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
   - In version 4.0 starting with update 9, it may be possible that the chart
under the Statistics Tab may not be displayed correctly occasionally.

   - VOP Radius can use two different files to retrieve UNIX password and UNIX
GID. This is helpful for those using a shadow file for the passwords.

   - VOP Radius processing time for text backup and ODBC backup cases has been
     reduced.

   - VOP Radius can attribute IP addresses to user requests with a service type
else than "Framed-User". This is helpful for those willing to assign an IP
     address to outbound users.

We NOW have VOP radius failing back to a text file on SQL failure.

Contact Vircom for "fix".

Hi Tony,

What do you use to run Modus in case of an SQL failure?

Larry,

I believe the manual is correct.

What I have done is added additional fields in the Platypus service called Radius Attribute.  We have placed 10 of them in there.  Don't need that many but you never know...

Anyway I use a separate program that runs as a service on the Platypus server that every 15 minutes creates the Profile text file as well as the user text file.  It also looks in the Additional attribute fields and checks to see if there is anything in there.  If so, adds them to the Profile file as well as the users file.

We use ODBC and use the text files for fail over.
