That's preposterous. That is like suggesting that the people at the CDC
would deliberately hide evidence of infectious disease. The people at the
weather bureau are consummate professionals and they would never do
anything to compromise their data.
The locations they choose for their temperature sensors are carefully
defined. They have to be a certain distance off the ground and away from
roads and other high heat areas. If you take temperature readings at random
spots around your neighborhood, you will see variations as large as 8°F. My
house is generally much cooler than the official weather department
temperature, because it is under tall trees. My automobile thermometer
shows a huge variation depending on where I park it.
