I knew I was probably missing a nucleon. I was sleepy and it was early in the morning and I was calculating the reactions by hand, and I couldn't see what was wrong with the accounting. Another possible reaction: 6Li + 6Li → 12C. Something would have to be disfavoring the neutron-producing reaction, as the radiation detectors did not go off in the lab in Lugano. Eric
