Yesterday Rossi got the following question:
"Was your big realization in Lugano that you could reuse ash from your
reactors as a new fuel input, and the high proportion of 62Ni in that new
fuel would make your e-cat more efficient?'
Rossi's answer:
"I cannot answer to this issue, because it is connected to a patent in
preparation."
In the report of the Rossi-NASA meeting in 2011 that Terry brought to our
attention it was noted that Rossi had enriched the Ni-62 and Ni-64 isotopic
concentrations of his reactor's fuel loading. See page 6 of that report.

Is the purpose of the even isotopes of nickel to help maintain a constant
lattice geometry (and maybe resonant design) to allow the main reaction to
proceed? These 2 isotopes may not transmute like the other odd Ni isotopes
do. I suspect this was the pleasant surprise that came out of the Lugano
test and allowed Rossi to design the high temperature E-Cat-X.
I wonder where Rossi got his enriched Ni-62 and Ni-64 fuel in the first
place. It seems it would have been expensive. However, he stumbled on a
breeder reactor--breeder of Ni-62 at least.
