Iron oxide has this hexagonal nanostructure which probably plays into the 
Holmlid effect.

 

In searching for “Kagome” and iron-oxide, it turns out that the structural 
shift from hematite to magnetite involves going from the 2D hexagon to the 3D 
Kagome structure. The term “nanomagnet” and “frustrated magnetism” are seen 
over-and-over in these papers. One would expect that partial reduction of 
hematite in a hydrogen atmosphere would result in this structural shift. 
Perhaps the shifting of structure back and forth at a redox resonance point is 
important.

 

The precise way this phenomenon relates to space-time is not clear, but it 
could involve the Casimir force. The center of the iron-oxide hexagon 
corresponds to the maximum Casimir geometry… I will save Fran Roarty the 
trouble to mention this…  J

Since my interests reside in hexagonal structures, I always wondered IF 
hexagonal structures are "fundamental".  Several years ago in a special edition 
of Scientific American was an article on Kagome Structures that are based upon 
equilateral triangles and their relationship to Space-Time.

Note: the term Kagome comes from a Japanese Basket weave pattern.

 

IMHO..in  Nature the persistant hexagonal structures...honeycombs..graphite 
etc..

"may" have their origins in the  hexagonal/triangle structure of Space-time.
