If it's mundane, you would certainly prove as much, however your missile is going to land somewhere, and do you really want to be responsible for killing someone with it? However if it's a real object, then you could be shooting a plane out of the sky. If it's an alien space ship, they will blast your missile out of the sky before it hits.
