How about, forget the "massive" bit, just substitute tritium oxide for deuterium oxide and load any-old-material with Casimir sized pores with it, and see if the decay rate drops. Dunno if it would be sensitive enough, but in principle it seems like it would be simple and clear evidence one way or the other.
