Having been in the poultry business (a foul industry), I am aware that
the offal from processing is sent to a rendering plant whereby the
gastric track and feathers are converted to feedstuff for, yep,
chickens.  (The feet are sent to Asia where they are worth more than
the meat.)

You are safer with free range eggs or layers fed with flora only, eg
Eggland's Best.  They are a little pricier but much lower risk.
