If you view this interview to Focardi (at 14m 30s it is the important part) you
can hear how he experimented the heat generation with the first prototypes.
Of course you have to grasp Italian...

He used the radiating heat generated by the device to make water boil
at 7atm inside an iron toroid (he says "a donut").
Steam was coming out at 7atm for a long period of time, after a
limited and recorded amount of energy was given to the
device.
