Under ubuntu:
bill@left:~$ which rename
/usr/bin/rename
bill@left:~$ ls -al /usr/bin/rename
lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 24 Jun 17  2013 /usr/bin/rename ->
/etc/alternatives/rename
bill@left:~$ ls -al /etc/alternatives/rename
lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 16 Jun 17  2013 /etc/alternatives/rename ->
/usr/bin/prename
bill@left:~$ dpkg -S /usr/bin/prename
perl: /usr/bin/prename
bill@left:~$

Maybe fedora calls it prename?
