Very strange. I have to admit that having a faster computer (I am running
a 060@50MHz) also means a faster response, but still it seems I am getting
extremely good response times.
After having clicked my Voyager button in my DOpus button-bank it takes
approximately 7.5 seconds for Voyager to open the first window, read my
index page (stored locally) and layout it (not much to layout, I know).
This is after a reboot although YAM is already loaded, so some of the MUI
libraries are already in memory. If I compare my 7.5 seconds with your
3 minutes, it means that my computer is 24 times faster than yours - does
that sound reasonable?
I by the way don't get a "This is beta..." requester and have never done
so with pre-release 2 but I did with pre-release 1. I was very glad when
I thought Olli had removed this "This is beta..." requester, because
it was starting to annoy me a lot.
If I then want to open an additional window and for example use the
menu item [Windows/Open new window...] it takes less than one second
for this window to open. This was quite an improvement over pre-release
1 which probably had used around 5 seconds to open a new window.
And I am using Voyager 3.0.8 (22.8.99).
On my system initial opening of Voyager and opening of additional windows
are with Voyager 3.0 pre-release 2 more or less just like Voyager NG 2.95.
