Yep, I had two crashes last night which on both occasions meant a guru
and a reboot. Only glad I've also got PFS3 because I was in the middle
of downloading something off Aminet at the time of one crash.
The first crash wasn't significant and only occured on trying to launch
3.1 for the first time.
The second time admittedly I was doing quite alot at the same time,
namely having 2 browser windows open, downloading a file, and printing
to the Turboprint 7.1 spooler device. I was also looking at the page
source of the second browser window site, had made some font colour and
background colour changes (FFFFFF to 000000 for background and vice
versa for the font colour). The crash occured at the moment I selected
the option to use the changes I'd made to the page source. There was
absolutely no Javascript in the page source I was editing (just a table)
so cannot be attributed to JS.
The only other software I installed last night (along with the 3.1
upgrade and flash module) was FBlit. However the first guru occured
before installing FBlit. It's not available memory as I've got 32 megs
of fast. The turboprint spooler is set to 5 megs ram cache space and
even with 2 instances of Voyager and miami in the background, and
loading a file (direct to the HD), I still had the majority of total ram
left over..

Yep, as am I. The crashes were a little annoying, but not the end of the
world. I'm not paying a penny for telephone calls anyway so it' no real
skin off my nose to have to reload something, and PFS3 does a damn fine
job of protecting my HD. Besides, putting the crash into perspective, my
machine was online for over 5 hours, so while I hate crashes, at least
it's a darn sight more stable than Netscape Navigator I use here at
work.
Such a shame sound isn't that fantastic at the mo with the flash plugin.
But then again, they know about that and I can wait for the next
release.
Rgds

p.s. If anyone in Britain wants to connect online without paying for
phone charges, I can definitely recommend RedHotAnt. Admittedly, during
peak times it can be a little slow, but at 10pm last night I had no
problems connecting at a decent speed. Was able to download a 4meg file
in a little over 3 mins.
