I used to run V2.95 on an AGA screen on my 1200, and I also used to run
something called AmigaLoad which had a guage showing how fragmented my Chip
RAM was.
V would frequently crash when the Chip RAM became very fragged and I went to
a page with many graphics - whenever the Chip RAM frag guage crept up I
knew a crash would follow, no matter how much actual Chip RAM I had left.
So the point is that it's the fragmentation of the Chip RAM that seems to be
the problem, rather than just running low on it. At the beginning of a
session I could open an image-heavy page and go down to a few k of Chip
with no problems.
I hope this observation is useful to somebody!
