Because they have a feature missing that some other browser has! It's
the end of the world!! *grin*

So why not say *that*?

"Why doesn't V do this thing? IBrowse does"
^^ not helpful, slightly obnoxious
"I would quite like V to do this thing"
^^ helpful, polite, at least gives us room to maneuver
For instance, when requesting features such as tabbed browser windows,
it would be wrong to say "I want V to do this just like IBrowse does",
since this means we have to ferret around trying to find a solution to
fix it the way you want to gain maximum potential happiness on your
part.

So why do you always bring other browsers into it as if they are what
V should aspire to clone? Just because IBrowse is slightly faster than
V in one regard doesn't mean it is possible to make so fast in V -
different programs have different architectures, different methods of
operating with different components, and suchlike.
Rest assured that Olli and Zapek and Jon and I (or anyone else who
contributes to VAT, Textinput, or Voyager itself) are not stupid (not
totally so in Zapek's case anyway :) and if there is an optimisation
to be made it will already have either been done, or been considered
worthwile but not of great enough importance compared to real bugs.
If you don't know a thing about the browser, what makes you think
saying "V is slow when this happens" has escaped any of us, who DO
know?
I'm all for people reporting bugs. That's what you're here for and
that's what I'm here for. But jumping around because IBrowse has
faster scrolling than V? It's hardly even worth mentioning. There
are plenty of things IB does better than V. But there are also an
absolute bucketload of features that V has that IBrowse doesn't,
and AWeb won't, even come close to implementing. I can give you a
lot of examples if you like, we'll be here for a while though :P
As I said, be helpful if you like, but please don't think you can
just request a feature based solely on the fact that "some other
browser does it like that". Exceptions to rule: HTML rendering,
for which our baseline standard is "exactly how IE does it, within
reason", not "how users think the W3C standard should be interpreted"
or "how IBrowse manages to screw it up".
:P
